Longboards
Longboards are perfect for cruising, freeride, downhill or just for commuting. Compared to a skateboard, a longboard offers a much smoother riding experience. Most longboard decks are made of Canadian maple or pressed bamboo. There are also different forms of longboard, each intended for a specific use. The characteristics are the shape, the flexibility and the type of assembly of the truck.
Longboard Shop
It is difficult to give advice on how to choose the right length of a longboard, based on height and weight. However, we can say that the taller and heavier you are, the longer your deck should be. For children, short boards or cruisers are more appropriate. Remember that the shorter the wheelbase, the smaller the turning radius when pressure is applied to the side of the board.
A short wheelbase makes clear turns possible. As a result, small or light riders may find it difficult to control a longboard with a long wheelbase, as it becomes less maneuverable. The width of the board is not a crucial factor, so it is not recommended to choose a longboard based on your shoe size.
Longboard cruisers are often used as a means of road transport. They are perfect for moving from point A to point B and easy to carry thanks to their small size.
Freestyle longboards are specially designed to perform dancing tricks on flat surfaces. Unlike freeride longboards, they have a twintip shape with double kick and a deck with more flexibility.
The freeride longboard is very similar to downhill, but differs from the latter because it allows you to perform tricks and slides on both flat and downhill surfaces.
With carving longboards, cornering on asphalt is child’s play. They are perfect for those looking for a snowboard feeling on the road.
Downhill longboards, with their stability given by the rigidity of the board and truck, are perfect for those who love high speed and descents.
